DailyOM

it's one of those days. annoyed, frustrated, sad, miserable, bored, lazy..etc. I want to crawl in bed and wake up tomorrow. I got this email today from the DailyOm and it weirded me out. you know when you read your horoscope sometimes and it's dead on? i mean so on that you think someone close to you is writing them...well...I think everyone should take the time out and read this. it's not only inspiring but so true. we all get in to our "safe" zone with our job, relationships, etc. it's hard to think about going off course sometimes but it can also be one of the best things to do sometimes....

"Back In The Driver’s Seat
The Passenger
It’s easy to go through this fast-paced world feeling as if you are being dragged through your weeks on the back of a wild horse. Many of us go from one thing to another until we end up back at home in the evening with just enough time to wind down and go to sleep, waking up the next morning to begin the wild ride once more. While this can be exhilarating for certain periods of time, a life lived entirely in this fashion can be exhausting, and more important, it places us in the passenger’s seat when really we are the ones who should be driving.

When we get caught up in our packed schedule and our many obligations, weeks can go by without us doing one spontaneous thing or taking time to look at the bigger picture of our lives. Without these breaks, we run the risk of going through our precious days on a runaway train. Taking time to view the bigger picture, asking ourselves if we are happy with the course we are on and making adjustments, puts us back in the driver’s seat where we belong. When we take responsibility for charting our own course in life, we may well go in an entirely different direction from the one laid out for us by society and familial expectations. This can be uncomfortable in the short term, but in the long term it is much worse to imagine living this precious life without ever taking the wheel and navigating our own course.

Of course, time spent examining the big picture could lead us to see that we are happy with the road we are on, but we would like more time with family or more free time to do whatever we want at the moment. Even if we want more extreme changes, the way to begin is to get off the road for long enough to catch our breath and remember who we are and what we truly want. Once we do that, we can take the wheel with confidence, driving the speed we want to go in the direction that is right for us."

vino does a body good.

Good thing for me! I am a wine-a-holic! cheers!

"Adding to evidence that a little wine can do a heart good, a new study suggests that women who drink moderate amounts may have less inflammation in their blood vessels.

Spanish researchers found that after four weeks of drinking two glasses of wine per day, women showed lower levels of certain inflammatory substances in their blood. The findings, reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, suggest a mechanism by which wine -- particularly red wine -- may protect the heart.

Numerous studies have found that wine drinkers tend to have lower rates of heart disease than teetotalers do. Research also suggests that higher levels of "good" HDL cholesterol may be one reason, though not a full explanation of the benefit.

Figuring out exactly how wine may protect the heart is important in order to prove that the link between wine and heart health is, in fact, a direct one, according to Dr. Emilio Sacanella, the lead researcher on the new study."

DailyOM

we have all held back our emotions at one time or another and i found the news letter from the DailyOM inspiring today. everyone has a problem with shutting down sometimes and I think it's healthy to deal with your feelings than to run and hide. we all know it's easier to run and close ourselves off but in the long run it will only hurt us...

"Tending The Emotions
Having A Breakdown
Most of us have had the experience of holding back our emotions for such a long period of time that when they finally come out, we have something resembling a breakdown. For a certain period of time, the overwhelming flood of feelings coursing through our bodies consumes us, and we stop functioning. Often, these outbursts take us by surprise, welling up within us as we drive to or from work, watch a movie, or engage in some otherwise mundane task. We may feel like we do not know what triggered us, or if we do know, it does not make sense of our overpowering emotional response. This is because we are releasing feelings that have accumulated over a long period of time, and whatever inspired the release was just a catalyst for a much larger, much needed catharsis.

When we find ourselves in the midst of such an experience, it is important that we allow it to happen, rather than fight it or try to shut down. Wherever we are, we can try to find a private, safe place in which to let our feelings out. If we can not access such a place immediately, we can promise to set aside some time for ourselves at our earliest possible convenience, perhaps taking a day off work. The important thing is that we need to give our emotional system some much-needed attention. It is essential that we allow ourselves to release the pent-up emotions inside ourselves so that they do not create imbalances in our bodies and minds.

When you are feeling better, make a plan to find a way to process your emotions more regularly. You can do this by employing a therapist or making a regular date to talk to a trusted friend. Journaling can also be a great way to acknowledge and release your emotions, as can certain forms of meditation. Making room in your life for tending your emotions on a regular basis will keep you healthy, balanced, and ready for life."

1 million dollars (with the pinky at the mouth)

so this is by far one of the craziest things I have ever heard..

YAHOO reports that:
Police say a man tried to open an account with a $1 million bill, which does not exist. The teller refused and called police while the man started to curse at bank workers, said Aiken County Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Michael Frank.

Alexander D. Smith, 31, of Augusta, Ga., was charged with disorderly conduct and two counts of forgery, Frank said.

The second forgery charge came after investigators learned Smith bought several cartons of cigarettes from a nearby grocery store with a stolen check, Frank said.

Smith has a bail hearing scheduled Wednesday, but Deputy Angela Shunn of the Aiken County Detention Center did not know if he had an attorney. An off-hours call to the public defender's office went unanswered

sigh. all i can say is wow...what an idiot!

TEAM KFED

DETAILS mag states that KFED is a "good father". I mean sure, if you are comparing him to his worthless, bald, a rat can sing better than B spears...then yah, he may be a good father. KFed played his cards right. Pre kids everyone bashed Britney for dating the loser who already had a daughter with one on the way. the world adored Britney. she can do no harm. well...you take trash and mix it with booze and drugs and you get 2007's Miss Britney Spears. Bad skin, still can't sing, shows her Britney way too often, should remember she's a mother of two girl who needs to crawl under a rock. It's sad when KFed comes out on top. who would have thunk?

Kevin Federline, father of the year? Well, not quite, but Details magazine has deemed Britney Spears’ famous ex one of its “50 Most Influential Men under 45.”

To be specific, Federline, 29, is listed in the No. 7 slot as a “Good Father” alongside Larry Birkhead. Federline, a father of four to be exact, tells the magazine that “To be a father is… everything. It shows me how little I am.”

Little as he might be, his acting career is getting bigger, at least by Federline’s standards. One lament: “I’d actually like to play somebody other than a bad guy or an ass,” he tells Details.

THESE ARE AMAZING!

Jon Gordon

My old boss told me to sign up for Jon Gordon's newsletter. I refused so she signed me up for it. I actually read the email today and it was pretty enlightening.Good positive words of wisdom!

Overcoming Rejection

Last week I heard from several people who, in spite of the Thanksgiving holiday, didn't feel they had a lot to be thankful about. Their ride through life had hit some major road blocks and they were looking for some positive fuel. One man was told by his fiance that the wedding was "off" and the engagement was broken. Another man told me that his job search wasn't going very well. And a woman emailed telling me that she felt beaten up from countless rejections in her new sales position. They felt alone but I assured them they weren't. As we know from our own experiences, each one of us will face rejection and naysayers on the road to success. In this spirit I wanted to share a few suggestions to help you and your team keep your bus moving forward.
1. Get the Right People on Your Bus - Some people are going to get on your bus and some people won't. That's ok. The people that get on are supposed to get on. The people that don't are meant to get on another bus. Don't take it personal. Just keep on driving and getting the right people on the bus.
2. Keep the Bus Rolling - As you drive just keep on picking up people along the way who want to get on your bus. Eventually you'll have a filled -standing room only- bus.
3. Post a Sign Saying, "No Energy Vampires Allowed" - Sometimes you may have to ask someone to get off your bus. Especially if they put a hole in your gas tank and ruin the ride for everyone.
4. Stay Focused - Don't waste your energy thinking about those who didn't get on your bus. If you waste your energy on them this means you'll have less fuel to pick up the people who want to get on.
5. Remember, It's a Journey - During your ride, you will have many people get on and many get off. Don't take it personal. The people who get off may have to get on another bus, or perhaps they will make room for someone special who is supposed to get on.
6. You Have the Best View - Many people won't be able to see what you see. You have the vision for where you are going while others are in the back seat. Don't let the back seat drivers get you down.
7. Take a Chance - Ask people if they want to get on your bus. The worst they can say is no. If you don't ask people they won't know to get on. The more people you pick up along the way the more energy you will create during your ride.
8. Live Your Purpose - Drive at your own speed and don't compare your success to others.
9. Have Confidence - Remember your positive energy must be greater than anyone's negativity. Your certainty must be greater than their doubt.
Share this Newsletter with a Friend.
Sending Positive Energy Your Way!

CNN reports:

Study: Fellatio may significantly decrease the risk of breast cancer in women
AP) -- Women who perform the act of fellatio and swallow semen on a regular basis, one to two times a week, may reduce their risk of breast cancer by up to 40 percent, a North Carolina State University study found.

Doctors had never suspected a link between the act of fellatio and breast cancer, but new research being performed at North Carolina State University is starting to suggest that there could be an important link between the two.

In a study of over 15,000 women suspected of having performed regular fellatio and swallowed the ejaculatory fluid, over the past ten years, the researchers found that those actually having performed the act regularly, one to two times a week, had a lower occurrence of breast cancer than those who had not. There was no increased risk, however, for those who did not regularly perform.

"I think it removes the last shade of doubt that fellatio is actually a healthy act," said Dr. A.J. Kramer of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, who was not involved in the research. "I am surprised by these findings, but am also excited that the researchers may have discovered a relatively easy way to lower the occurrence of breast cancer in women."

The University researchers stressed that, though breast cancer is relatively uncommon, any steps taken to reduce the risk would be a wise decision.

"Only with regular occurrence will your chances be reduced, so I encourage all women out there to make fellatio an important part of their daily routine," said Dr. Helena Shifteer, one of the researchers at the University. "Since the emergence of the research, I try to fellate at least once every other night to reduce my chances."

The study is reported in Friday's Journal of Medical Research.

In 1991, 43,582 women died of breast cancer, as reported by the National Cancer Institute.

Dr. Len Lictepeen, deputy chief medical officer for the American Cancer Society, said women should not overlook or "play down" these findings.

"This will hopefully change women's practice and patterns, resulting in a severe drop in the future number of cases," Lictepeen said.

Sooner said the research shows no increase in the risk of breast cancer in those who are, for whatever reason, not able to fellate regularly.

"There's definitely fertile ground for more research. Many have stepped forward to volunteer for related research now in the planning stages," he said.

Almost every woman is, at some point, going to perform the act of fellatio, but it is the frequency at which this event occurs that makes the difference, say researchers. Also key seems to be the protein and enzyme count in the semen, but researchers are again waiting for more test data.

The reasearch consisted of two groups, 6,246 women ages 25 to 45 who had performed fellatio and swallowed on a regular basis over the past five to ten years, and 9,728 women who had not or did not swallow. The group of women who had performed and swallowed had a breast cancer rate of 1.9 percent and the group who had not had a breast cancer rate of 10.4 percent.

"The findings do suggest that there are other causes for breast cancer besides the absence of regular fellatio," Shafteer said. "It's a cause, not THE cause."

monday=toozeday!

hurray for a 3 day week!!! we had such a great weekend. Friday was a mission and a half. We were throwing Jess a surpirse party for passing her test and i was in charge of taking her out and bringing her to the house. well, of course the one time she wants to be difficult and call random girls we dont know and can't get a hold of and tells them to meet us at a restaurant in Sherman Oaks. we were supposed to be at Josh's (in woodland hills) at 830....anyways....long story short everything worked out better than i expected. I pulled each girl in the bathroom to tell them to leave and meet us at the house...it was classic seeing Jessica's face when people just started leaving with the most random excuses. hahaha. when we got there she was so SURPRISED!!! I am so happy that it all worked out. what a great night. drinks, music, kings and pin the tail on the donkey. hahaha. i love my Dory and I am sooooooo proud of her!!!!!!!

Saturday Brandon and I had date day and night. we woke up around noon and got our worthless butts out of bed and went to Il Tramezzino for lunch. mmmmmmm. we went home and hung out and then went to Shiki sushi for dinner and ended our night at pink berry. sigh.....i love date nights!

Sunday was none other than fooooootball day. of course Dallas beat Washington but it was a good intense game. we had a bunch of peeps over and more than enough food. i feel like we already had Thanksgiving dinner. lol. after watching the Patriots kill Buffalo....we decided to go to cold stones. bling_bling.

GENEVA - An 84.37-carat white diamond touted by Sotheby's for its size and beauty sold at auction Wednesday to Guess clothing company founder Georges Marciano for just under $16.2 million.

The jewel — the largest top-quality, brilliant-cut white diamond ever to appear at auction — had been valued by Sotheby's at between $13.3 million and $17.8 million.

Marciano's winning bid, made by telephone, came to $16,189,769 including the buyer's premium. It was just short of the all-time auction record for a stone or piece of jewelry, a record held by the same Sotheby's branch in Geneva for a 100.1-carat diamond that fetched $16.5 million in 1995.

"We had interest from all over the world," said David Bennett, the auction house's chairman of jewelry for Europe and the Middle East. "This sale said a lot about the jewelry market internationally, especially the diamond market. It says great things about jewels."

The diamond has received the highest possible grading, Sotheby's said. It is D-color, or finest white, has flawless clarity, and its cut, polish and symmetry have all been graded excellent, it said.

Ron Cohen, the owner of the Los Angeles-based Clean Diamonds, was the seller of the gem. Cohen said he purchased it from Angola's national diamond company two years ago, and knew immediately he had found something special.

"The size and especially the quality of the rough material was extraordinary," he told The Associated Press by telephone. "I only hope I will one day come across another stone like that one."

The New York-based company is hoping the "Magnificent Jewels" sale at Geneva's historic Beau Rivage hotel will help it bounce back from the disheartening results of its Impressionist and Modern Art auction, which sent its stock tumbling.

The sale last week fetched $269.7 million, well short of estimates, and led some analysts to speculate whether the flight from risk currently gripping financial markets may be spilling over into the art world.

The company announced that it lost $14.6 million by purchasing paintings that failed to sell.

The white diamond already has been showcased in Hong Kong, Paris, New York, Rome, Los Angeles, London, Dubai and Bahrain. The auction Wednesday also featured other diamonds, colored stones and gems from the world's leading jewelers.

I wanted to CONGRATULATE my BESTIE for passing the SERIES 7! (one of the hardest tests to take)
"The General Securities Representative Exam, commonly referred to as the Series 7 Exam, is a required exam to become a Registered Representative of a broker-dealer in the United States.

The exam is a six-hour, 250 question test owned and maintained by the New York Stock Exchange Regulations and administered by the self-regulating National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), which covers a broad range of investments including stocks, bonds, options, limited partnerships, and investment company products (e.g., open- and closed-end funds). A candidate must answer 70% of the questions correctly in order to pass. Upon passing the test, one is granted a Series 7 / General Securities license. This license is required of any investment professional who communicates with retail investors. For this reason, many account managers, analysts, and other executives in the employ of a registered Broker/Dealer hold Series 7 licenses. Clients of a Broker/Dealer, whether they be a hedge fund manager or a home investor, are not eligible for this license"

60 ROCK

last night we went to Marina del Rey for my uncle's SURPRISE 60th bday. It was so much fun..it was on a boat that was supposed to sail but due to technical difficulties we stayed at the dock. dancing...drinking...and party hats! we had so much fun. My Uncle had NO idea and when he walked on to a dark boat his eyes lit up as we all popped out and yelled..SURPRISE!!!! awwwwww.
