Our Camping Trip

Camping: nature's way of promoting the motel industry. ~Dave Barry, Only Travel Guide You'll Ever Need

So, As you know we went camping this weekend. The ride up there was an adventure before the big adventure. We were making great time and singing in the car. We thought we were getting close to the lake when we came up to a dead end that said “PRIVATE PROPERTY. DO NOT TRESPASS. PROPERTY IS PATROLLED” So, of course we turned around and had no idea what went wrong. We went all the way back up the road we came on (about 17 miles each way) and realized where we went wrong. We finally got on the “right” course and found the camp grounds. We paid to get in and then went on a mission to find the people we were meeting. It’s now about 10pm (we would have been there around 9:15/9:30 if we went down the right road)….so we are driving around to every camp site. We tell our friends to meet us at the front gate and to our surprise we found out that we were at the “South” side of the lake and everyone we were meeting was at the “North” side. ARGH!!!! By this time Brandon and I are super frustrated and want to scream. The lady at the gate said it was 24 mile away. So we finally made it there around 11pm. we had a few drinks, sat by the fire and passed out in our tent. Saturday morning we woke up at like 6:30 and enjoyed the gorgeous lake. We were right on the lake and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. GORGEOUS! We took our friends boat to rent another boat and spent the whole day on the lake in a cove…..so amazing. the water was so nice!! We came back to the camp site around 4:30 and Brandon and I passed out in the car with the air on. It was SOOOO hot! We changed in to some comfy clothes and hung out by the fire. This is when I started to notice the god awful Jurassic bugs. A few of us jumped in the car and went to go buy more wood. I felt something under my pants and smooshed it on my leg. I freaked out and told brandon to roll up my pants. He kept telling me nothing was there and I continued to panic. I finally rolled them up and this GYNORMOUS black thing peaked out and Brandon jumped back and I almost passed out. I jumped out of the car so fast and came two seconds away from ripping off my pants. EOWWWWWW! At this point I was in tears yelling at brandon. He claimed he was holding the beer and camera but BS! He took one look at this bug/monster and leaped away from me. I have been camping a thousand times before but have never seen or experienced these creatures. EOWWWWWWWWWW!! At this point I just wanted to sleep in the car. Brandon and I finally ate and I tried to calm down. We got in the tent and went to sleep. A few minutes later I realized our air mattress was deflating. Go figure right? Brandon tells me there is a hole in it so we deal with the hard floor all night. In the morning we were cleaning up and Brandon goes “oh babe, the cap wasn’t screwed on”! WHAT>?RR)#@*%@#) are you kidding? We cleaned up the camp site and all got on the road. Brandon and I stopped in Ventura to eat at Tacos n Beer. If you haven’t been there I HIGHLY recommend it. it’s delicious!!! We walked to the beach and analyzed the people. We got ice cream and came back home. It was a great relaxing weekend but could have done without the creatures.

Our five year is this weekend! EEEEEEEEEEEEE!
